Our Journey

Stevens Design is a family-run business based in Maidenhead, Berkshire, specialising in the design and full project management of mid-to high-end kitchen installations and refurbishments.

The Foundation

Stevens Design founder Kevin Stevens had a passion for design from an early age, inspired by a family lineage in various associated trades and professions. After leaving school, Kevin was itching to gain site experience as well as graduate. While completing a Bachelor of Arts Degree, he also gained valuable knowledge by working on building sites.

15 years of experience… rooted in Professionalism

Starting at a market-leading company with a client base of high-end retail and developers within the prestigious homes sector, Kevin then went on to design his first showroom in 2012 after becoming Design & Sales Manager for a local kitchen and interiors company. After building an impressive portfolio of kitchen, refurb and building projects, he moved back to Extreme as a Creative Designer.

Built with Passion

During a reflective period after becoming a father, Kevin decided to pursue his dream of following in his late father-in-law’s footsteps by starting his own design and interior renovation company. Working alongside his father Phil and close friends Steve and Danny, ‘Stevens Design’ now combines a personal, collaborative approach helping manage client and contractor relationships to ensure the entire team is working towards the same professional goal. Creating dream kitchens, in dream spaces.

Contemporary

Contemporary kitchens are minimal and clean in design, with modern appliances and innovative storage options keeping surfaces clear. The majority of our clients who opt for a contemporary kitchen usually prefer a true handleless range of furniture as this helps enhance the streamlined look and feel. Flat-slab doors with a minimal sleek handle can also be used to create the look and often we see a demand for mixing the two. Contemporary kitchens are usually functional but state-of-the-art, with soft closing doors and drawers, clever LED lighting and hi-tech digital appliances in black glass and feature brushed steel. There is a carefully thought out place for everything and, as such, they are easy to maintain as new for years to come.

Traditional & Bespoke

Unlike the smooth lines and 21st century materials used in a contemporary kitchen, traditional kitchens have a more classic, handmade look to them, and focus on natural materials such as solid wood, marble and granite. Traditional kitchens have character and behind their doors shows the bespoke nature of the furniture. Drawer boxes will usually be built from solid wood with dovetailed joints that accentuate the quality of the craftsmanship. There are many styles of shaker door such as the option of an in-frame look with visible hinge plates vs. a more minimal shaker look where the door sits over the front of the carcass with a soft closing hinge. One of the other advantages of a bespoke traditional kitchen is its timeless nature, meaning they can be re-painted later, providing the substructure of the material is designed to do so, making a freshen up or change of colour scheme far easier than that of a more Germanic style kitchen.

The kitchen is where you put all the ingredients together. No matter what you do in life, you have to have a plan and put it together.
